Bettors Can Start Wagering Sept. 1

The start of legal sports betting in Kansas today is considered a “soft launch,” according to Kansas Lottery Executive Director Stephen Durrell.

The state is embarking upon a “full launch” on Sept. 8.

In an email, the Kansas Lottery said the soft launch gives casinos and mobile bookmakers a chance to start taking bets and to “adjust and adapt to any unforeseen issues” before the NFL season starts next week.

For bettors aged 21 and older, there is no difference between the soft and full launch dates. Bettors can begin wagering today.
